Fanu kalni / Fann Mountains

Izbraucot no kalniem, vairākas dienas apskatījām Samarkandas skaistās, vecās celtnes.

Fann Mountains (also known as the Fanns) are part of the western Pamir-Alay mountain system and are primarily located in Tajikistan‘s Sughd Province between the Zarafshan Range to the north and the Gissar Range to the south. In the east-west direction they extend from Fandarya River to Archimaydan River, and the cluster of Marguzor lakes known as the 7 lakes west of Archimaydan is also included in the Fanns. The highest point in Fann Mountains is Chimtarga Peak (5489 m). Inta first went to the mountains in the summer of 1976, where she participated in a mountain tour organized by the Latvian Tourist Club. It was a very interesting mountain hike through the peculiarly beautiful Fann Mountains, during which Inta climbed the peaks of Mirali (5132m) and Chimtarga (5489m). One of the many lakes – Lake Alaudina with clear, blue water and archas (junipers) growing on the shores was unforgettable scenic. Leaving the mountains, we visited the beautiful, old buildings of Samarkand for several days.
